Whether it because of illness, personal problems or family history, there are times when we all need a helping hand.
Helping Homeless People by Helping create low cost Housing
Today, we met with an extremely caring woman who believes that people simply need to have a home. This is just simply a basic need and right of an individual. Sometimes it is a transitional time – lost job, divorce or family tragedy. Sometimes it is more complicated and involves substance or other forms of abuse.
This lady is so convinced of this that she has taken her real estate knowledge, her caring and much time and personal effort to apply and receive a million dollar grant to build an affordable housing project to help the homeless in Los Angeles. And she still needs help to get it all the way to being built!
Here is an example of a group in Milwaukee which created an excellent housing project, much larger than her project, but give an excellent boost of hope – of what CAN BE DONE!
“The Housing Authority is setting the pace nationally in creating smart, sustainable developments that utilize the best experience and thinking available to build desirable neighborhoods,” Milwaukee Common Council President and Housing Authority Board Chairman Willie L. Hines, Jr. told AOL Real Estate in an email interview.
“The Housing Authority is doing a great job in making Milwaukee stronger economically and helping families achieve economic self-sufficiency,” said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in a statement released to AOL Real Estate.
Another valuable concern when a person or family needs assistance is being addressed also in Los Angeles. Imagine LA, a non-profit organization with a mission: “To empower families to transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency” has also been working diligently to contribute not only to the solution for homelessness, but to provide education and support through their 2 year program.
How can You Lend a Helping Hand to Helping Homeless People?
In this book, Take the E Out of Ego & Go!, one of the main focuses of the authors was to remind each of us that our power to change is highly dependent on our desire and creativity.
If we are stuck, we are not permanently “stuck;” we may be simply in need of a Jump start to our battery, like our car if we leave a light on inside overnight……
Sometimes the dead battery does need replaced, but not always. In the mean time, that jumper cable may be all we need to get on with our life that day.
What about this senario — have you ever been stuck in your driveway with a dead battery, and even had the jumper cables BUT still needed another vehicle PLUS someone to help push the car out??
Sometimes life takes a team effort!!
Did you have to use some desire and creativity to get it all together…? You bet!! And to get to work on time, or keep your life moving…..it was well worth it! Right?
